Monochromatic- Red

12:19

I practiced my monochromatic design today on Leah in class. It was my first time really doing makeup on someone else whilst being on this course, it was really fun and i enjoyed doing it and trying out the products that we got in our kit.

To create the look i used:

Face:
  • Illamasqua satin primer
  • Illamasqua skin base foundation (white)
  • Illamasqua loose powder

Eyes:
  • Kryolan bright eyeshadow palette (red)
  • White supra colour for the lashes
  • Kryolan powder blush palette (red)

Lips:
  • Kryolan supra colours (red&berry)
  • Mac’s reflex red glitter

Brushes:
  • Charles fox sponge
  • Zoeva blending brush
  • Kryolan foundation brush
  • kryolan stippling brush
  • kryolan blush brush
  • kryolan kabuki brush
  • kryolan shadow brush
  • kryolan flat eyeliner brush

I found the white base to be the hardest part of the look, it was quite patchy and trying to put product on top of it was extremely hard. It was grip colour in some places more than others creating a very uneven blend on the skin. The eyeshadow and blush colours were very pigmented which made them quite difficult to work with, but now that i know i will be able to get a better understanding of the products and wont feel so anxious to use them.

For next time i will make sure i use a lighter hand when using the coloured pigments as i think that will create a softer look. I didn’t like working on the white base, i think it made the rest of the makeup look really horrible, but thats just personal preference.
