Base

03:30

I found the hardest part about applying the base is getting the colour correct for the foundation. To match it up you have to apply what you think will be the right shade to the jaw line and neck to see if it matches, and whether it is too dark or light you can change the colour from there. I thought my first attempt at colour matching Liv’s skin tone went well.

The order that we created the base in was:
  • Prep the skin. Cleanse, Tone and Moisturise. Make sure all residue of makeup is off of the skin before you start.
  • Apply a primer
  • Mix foundations to create the right shade, test on the jaw line /neck and adapt accordingly.
  • Apply the foundation starting from the middle of the face and working outwards.
  • Either using more foundation / concealer, conceal areas that need extra coverage.
  • Conceal the under eyes using a shade lighter than the foundation.
  • Apply a shade lighter than the foundation to the high points on the face. (Nose, top of the cheek bones, forehead, under the cheekbones/ jawline and chin is also optional).
  • Apply a shade darker to the hollows of the face. ( Underneath the cheekbones, jawline, forehead/temples.
  • Set all the cream products using a translucent powder.

The products that i used were:
  • Illamasqua satin primer
  • Kryolan foundation palette
  • Derma concealer palette
  • Illamasqua translucent powder.
